Promega Corporation
Kornberg Center

Community and sustainability are key values integral to the design of this new research and development building on the campus of Promega Corporation, a biotechnology company supporting the work of scientists around the world. Promega is renowned for its positive workplace culture, offering a wide range of amenities, including an art gallery, sound therapy space, a fitness studio, cozy fireplace lounges, and a full indoor sports court.

Daylight plays a key role in the building design, permeating the perimeter through an energy-efficient double-skin facade and pouring into the grand central atrium through a 360° clerestory and skylight. Warm 2700K lighting in public spaces and office areas compliments the rich wood timber structure and warm-toned materials throughout the facility. In critical research and laboratory spaces, 3500K was used for enhanced visual acuity.

The lighting control network is linked with a sophisticated building management system providing centralized dimmability and manual or timeclock-initiated customized lighting scenes. The new building is designed to use 60% less energy per square foot than the company’s existing research and development facility.
