Discovery Campus Amenities Building

An impressive facility on Exact Sciences’ new medical laboratory campus, the Amenities Building encourages employee health, engagement, and community.

Pivotal provided architectural lighting solutions for the building exterior, lobby, and cafeteria. The main lobby’s up-lit double-height wood ceiling, visible from outside, slopes downward toward the reception. The reception area’s rolling perforated metal ceiling is illuminated from above with linear LED strip fixtures, creating a striking futuristic laser-beam appearance.

The client challenged the design team to create spaces that encouraging employee collaboration and community building. The multipurpose space offers unique areas for people to meet, eat lunch, grab coffee, or take a peaceful break during the workday. This state-of-the-art building has adjacent exterior walls with full-height windows, large wood slat ceilings, integrated linear lighting, oversized pendants, and ambient down lighting.

Equipped with concealed presentation lighting, the Amenities Building also functions as a conference venue for large town hall meetings. Creating a welcome and inviting atmosphere, rear-wall grazing brightens the café while decorative glass pendants highlight check-out locations. The selective use of decorative fixtures combined with simple functional light is economical and enhances the building’s bold architecture.
