Lighting Designer I

Srimoyee Bandyopadhyay is dedicated to leveraging the transformative power of light to enrich human experiences by infusing beauty into everyday moments. Witnessing the remarkable transformation of her hometown, Bangalore, India, from a rural town to a booming metropolis in the 2000s, she has committed herself to creating impactful spaces within the built environment ever since.

Graduating in 2022, Srimoyee holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architectural engineering with a minor in philosophy from Penn State University. Penn State’s ABET-accredited engineering program equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of technical engineering, coupled with a refined aesthetic sensibility for lighting design. Following a summer electrical engineering internship, she transitioned into a full-time role as a lighting designer in New York City. Her tenure as a lighting designer exposed Srimoyee to a diverse array of project types, spanning transportation, office spaces, cultural institutions, and government facilities. Some notable projects she contributed to include the New York Public Library Castle Hill Branch, a daylighting study for the European Painting Galleries of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Diriyah Gate Opera House, Rolex Building on 5th Avenue, and the Ford Research & Engineering Center in Dearborn, MI.

Driven by her aspiration to apply her lighting expertise to projects that serve the greater good, including those in healthcare, education, and science and technology sectors, she joined Pivotal in 2024. She strives to seamlessly integrate the client’s technical and artistic visions while prioritizing sustainability.

Currently pursuing a Professional Engineer (PE) certification and affiliation with the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), Srimoyee is committed to enhancing her capabilities to better serve her clients. In her leisure time, she enjoys nurturing relationships with family and friends, exploring new travel destinations, painting, and immersing herself in interior design trends and aesthetic philosophy.
