Collaborative White Paper Highlights Innovative Spectral Lighting System at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center

Published by ZGF Architects, with contributions from Pivotal Lighting Design, the collaborative white paper, “The Story of the Critical Care Building Neonatal Care Spectral Lighting System,” highlights the one-of-a-kind fully customized spectral lighting system implemented in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC).

The comprehensive white paper features collective testimony and lighting design insights from an integrated panel of industry thought leaders — including Pivotal's Lauri Tredinnick and Grant Kightlinger, Dr. James Greenberg of CCHMC, Dr. Richard Lang of CCHMC's Lang Research Laboratory, Marty Brennan of ZGF, as well as other project partners from ZGF, Acuity Brands, and BIOS (refer to page 39 in the linked white paper below for the full list of authors and acknowledgments).

In addition to outlining the collaborative, multidisciplinary development process and the significant role light plays in shaping human health, the white paper effectively establishes a roadmap for future project innovation — a model for successfully bridging the gap between art and science through purpose-built, data-driven lighting design.
